It wasn’t until a few years ago, when I met my friend Ricky, that I actively realized and articulated my stance about bisexuality. Sadly, Ricky was afraid to disclose it to me at first, but I gained a new piece of self-awareness when he eventually told me he was bisexual. No form of discrimination, even towards people with disabilities, has ever made less sense to me than that against gays and bisexuals, even before Ricky came into my life; but I never saw bisexuality as extraordinary compassion  until I met him, compassion towards anyone who needs love regardless of gender.

Why is a difference in preferences, that’s confined to the bedroom, cause such an uproar? No one discriminates against people who like whips and chains and other kinky stuff when they have sex–no one would even ask. What does that stuff have to do with anything, in anyone’s case?  So why is it an issue at all? My favorite color is yellow-green. If yours is blue, does that imply something deviant about me or you?

My post Victors Among Difficulties in the ‘Pop-a-wheelies’ category also begs the question why is it so hard for some people to see beyond the stereotypes?
