My sister recently told me that her 9-year-old daughter seems to have outgrown my regular Christmas present of a subscription to  a popular kids’ magazine, which I had given her for 4 years. I had been subscribing to it myself, just so I could partake in her joy if she chose to ask a question or discuss something. I am so glad to have given her the gift of education that will last a lifetime.

As for me, I will continue to savor the education, along with the talking animals with floppy ears and fat tummies, the corny jokes that inspire laughs more at their ‘dumbness’ than their actual worthiness as jokes, and the simple games that present a real challenge for my 50-year-old damaged brain.

My nonchalance about the behavior that doesn’t ‘match’ my age is one of my proudest parts. Please see my post Rainbows, rainbows, RAINBOWS EVERYWHERE! in the ‘Spinning My Wheels’ category.
