Maybe a second kind of training is needed for caregivers–effective communication training.
Society Has to Make Up its Mind
When this ‘lumping together’ of the Disabled and Elderly communities spills over into financial and legal matters, it especially has to stop. One of my friends with a disability didn’t know about some governmental benefits he could have been receiving many years ago because, as a 40-year-old, he never thought to consult an elder care lawyer.
Accidents Made Me Who I Am Too
I was on my way to becoming a gymnast when the accident occurred in 1976. Maybe I could have been in the Olympics! But I don’t lament about that now. I guess I embrace the situation and try to improve on reality. I was a wheelchair dancer 20 years ago–close enough.
The Way I Get There Matters
It’s easy to overlook dignity in logistics, but wheelies deserve an easy entrance and exit just like everyone else.
Privacy Policy
Utmost respect has been given to all people included in my posts who have provided context and ‘helped’ me illustrate my points.
Comparing Apples to Oranges
Calling disabilities similar to old age is the faulty premise on which much service to the community of people with disabilities is rendered.

Why Us?
When anyone or anything is given such zig-zagged publicity, I am bemused.
It’s No Fun without a Choice
Assistance with a difficult task is a luxury only when the person receiving it has a choice whether to receive it or not. A disability doesn’t give us much choice.
