In my post Overcast Interactions in the ‘Communication Detours’ category, I began to express my strong belief that care giving has become far too mechanical, devoid of considering the person being cared for. As I stated in that post, effective communication training would help, but a focus on the individual is necessary too. Unless an agency wants to be all business, rigid and black and white, its caregivers might extend their nurturing further into social arenas, to some extent, household advice, or suggestions on fashion. I have run into big problems with caregivers in each of these areas though, so it must be communicated in the right way, respectfully and with the intention of helping. Please see my post Bare Naked Help in the ‘Communication Detours’ category.
